Flying

The three nearest airports to Washington, DC are Thurgood Marshall Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), Ronald Reagan National (DCA), and Dulles International (IAD).

Baltimore-Washington International

From BWI, individuals can take:

  • Taxi (avg. $90)
  • Ride-sharing (prices vary)
  • Bus and Metro – The MTA Commuter Bus 201 ($5.00 one way) provides service between the airport and Shady Grove Station on Metro’s Red Line. This bus runs approximately every 60 minutes from  5 a.m. to 11 p.m. No eastbound service is provided after 6 p.m. Bus stops are located at both the International and Domestic terminals. Unfortunately, Metrorail is not currently serving Shady Grove Station. Upon arriving at Shady Grove, you must board the free express shuttle bus to Twinbrook Station. At Twinbrook, board a Red Line train in the direction of Glenmont/Silver Spring. Exit the Red Line at Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Station. The Metro portion of the trip will cost $5.85 at rush hour and $3.85 at off-peak times, using a SmarTrip® card* that can be purchased at Shady Grove station.
  • Amtrak/MARC and Metro – Take the free buses marked Amtrak/MARC to the BWI Rail Station, which is served by both Amtrak and the suburban commuter rail service. Upon exiting the bus, walk across the street to the rail station and purchase a ticket to Union Station ($7 on MARC, appx. $14 on Amtrak). From Union Station, you can either take a taxi to the hotel (avg. $25) or board Metro’s Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove and take it directly to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station (avg. $2.50, one-way, using a SmarTrip® card*).

Dulles International

From Dulles, individuals can take:

  • Taxi (avg. $60)
  • Ride-sharing (prices vary)
  • Bus and Metro – Take the 5A bus from curb 2E (appx. $7.50, exact fare required in either cash or SmarTrip® card*) to Rosslyn Station served by Metro’s Blue, Orange and Silver Lines. If taking the bus, from Rosslyn, take any train in the direction of Largo Town Center or New Carrollton and exit the train when you arrive at Metro Center, transfer to the Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove and exit at the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station (avg. $3, using a SmarTrip® card*).
  • Bus and Metro – The Silver Line Express Bus ($5.00 one way) provides direct service between the airport and Wiehle-Reston East Station on Metro’s Silver Line. This bus runs approximately every 15-20 minutes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The bus stop is located outside the terminal at Arrival Door 4. Upon arriving at Wiehle-Reston East, board a Silver Line train in the direction of Largo Town Center. Exit the Silver Line at Metro Center and transfer to the Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove/Grosvenor. Exit the Red Line at Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Station. The Metro portion of the trip will cost $6.00 at rush hour and $3.85 at off-peak times, using a SmarTrip® card*.
  • Bus and Metro – The Fairfax Connector Buses 981 and 983 ($2.00 one way) provides less direct service between the airport and Wiehle-Reston East Station on Metro’s Silver Line. The bus runs approximately every 20-40 minutes from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The bus stop is located outside the main terminal at lower level Door 5, Curb 2E. Upon arriving at Wiehle-Reston East, board a Silver Line train in the direction of Largo Town Center. Exit the Silver Line at Metro Center and transfer to the Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove/Grosvenor. Exit the Red Line at Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Station. The Metro portion of the trip will cost $6.00 at rush hour and $3.85 at off-peak time, using a SmarTrip® card*.

Reagan National

From Reagan National, individuals can take: 

  • Taxi (avg. $25)
  • Ride-sharing (prices vary)
  • Metro – Follow the signs to the station and board the Blue Line in the direction of Largo Town Center. Exit the Blue Line at the Metro Center station and transfer to the Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove/Grosvenor. Exit the Red Line at Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Station. The Metro trip will average $3 using a SmarTrip® card*.

Train

If travelling by train from Canada or the U.S., you will arrive in Union Station. From Union Station, you can either take a taxi to the hotel (avg. $25) or board Metro’s Red Line in the direction of Shady Grove and take it directly to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station (avg. $2.50, one-way using a SmarTrip® card*).

Driving

The Omni Shoreham Hotel is on Calvert St, NW, immediately off of Connecticut Avenue, NW. Connecticut Avenue, NW connects to the I-495 at Exit 33 for those travelling from the north, and to 1-395 via the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway, NW for those travelling from the south and west. The street address of the hotel is 2500 Calvert St, NW, Washington, DC 20008.
